Short Escape in Singapore 2016

In December i had a short trip to Singapore for 4 days. Although it was a short trip - my second trip to Singapore -, but it was quite enough to explore some places that being an icon of the country.

Hotel and Transportation

I stayed at Hotel 81 Dickson near the Rochor Station. That was a good hotel to stay because area is located in the center that makes accessible and also affordable price. For the transportation, MRT is the best way to explore the entire places in Singapore (get your MRT map in here). For instant, i used a Singapore Tourist Pass for unlimited transportation access (the card can be used for MRT, LRT, and Bus). My STP card applied for 3 days, counted from the first tap at the station. The price is S$30 (including deposit S$10) and i got it at Changi Airport terminal 3 station. Visit a Singapore Tourist Pass for more information.

Here you go, some interesting places and shows in Singapore!

Garden by the Bay

Amazing nature park located in the Marina Garden area. This park consists of many interesting different themes of garden, and two most famous conservatorium garden are Flower Dome and Cloud Forest, i really love both!!. To enter the Flower Dome and Cloud Forest you need to buy a ticket. I bought an online ticket from travel agent website (IDR 198,000 / via tripvisto), the price is cheaper than the official website. Make sure you get it from trusted travel agent.

Nutcracker at Flower Dome
Flower Dome is a glass greenhouse for a thousand species of flowers and trees, and i was happy to come on the Christmas time because the decoration is very colorful and full of fantasy.

Cloud Forest
After walked around at the Flower Dome, next i explored the Cloud Forest. First impression: I felt a good breeze inside and amaze with the waterfall came down swiftly. They provides a breath-taking mountain view and it was really a challange because i am afraid of height. Please do not look down if you have a same problem with me. It was quite chilly inside, so its good idea to bring a jacket. Short words: the place is awsome!.
Supertree Groove - icon of the Garden by the Bay
In the night, i did not forget to see the light show at Supertree Groove, unfortunately i could not enter to this places and just captured some pictures.
How to get to Garden By the Bay? take MRT on circle lane / downtown line routes and stop at the Bayfront station. Click here to get full information about Garden by the Bay.

Light and Water Show

You can watch the Light and Water Show - they called as the largest water show in Southeast Asia - at Event Plaza at the Promenade, Marina Bay Sands and absolutely for FREE! This is one of the best entertainment option for night. I just took about 5 minutes walking to reach the show from Garden by the Bay. The earliest show started at 8 pm, you can also check the schedule suit to you before you go, just click on Marina Bay Sands website
Light and Water Show at Marina Bay Sands

The show depicted about human life which highlighted from fountain, lights and laser effects, all combined perfectly. During the show, i got wet on my clothes because of water blowing. So please find another spot when you are watching it - not to close to the deck - to avoid water blowing.

Sentosa World

Universal Studio - Globe Icon
On the third day, i went to Sentosa World Resort to see Universal Studio and SEA Aquarium. To get to Sentosa, you need to transfer at HarbourFront station at Vivo city and change connection with Sentosa Express. Unfortunately, STP could not work for this, so i bought additional return ticket (S$4) to get in. Honestly, i did not intend spending my time at the Universal Studio so i just took some pictures in front of Universal Studio globe icon, just proved that i have been there :)
Colorful Jellies at SEA Aquarium
It was not difficult to find the SEA Aquarium, just took 3 minutes walking from Universal Studio. To enter the SEA Aquarium i bought an online ticket from travel agent website (approximately IDR 216,300 / via blibli). SEA Aquarium is a marine life conservatorium where you can find many different kind of sea creatures here....they are beautiful!
Garrett Popcorn

I also tried Garrett Popcorn there. Garret Mix is my favorite one which combined two flavors of CaramelCrisp and CheeseCorn. The taste are delicious, crunchy, sweet and salty. By spending S$5 you can get the small size popcorn.

Singapore Flyer

Singapore Flyer

My favorite one! i had a stunning view of Singapore from the top of the Singapore Flyer observation wheel. I took the flyer at evening about 6.30 pm to chase the sunset view from the top, but unfortunately it did not work perfectly. Maybe, i will try again someday. I paid S$33 for enjoying the flyer, quite expensive. You can reach Singapore Flyer by 5 minutes walking from Promenade station.

Merlion

Do not miss the icon of Singapore during your trip. You can get here by MRT, take the downtown line route and stop at Downtown station then walking about 10 minutes to Merlion. So crowded, you have to be patient for searching the best angle shoot while here.

Those are the places i explored during my trip in Singapore. I hope it could be your good references for your holiday someday.

Short Tips:
  • It would be good to make an itinerary before you go by finding a references from website about the places you would like to go as much as you can.
  • Buy an attraction ticket via online from trusted travel agent for saving budget. The price is cheaper and without having to queue.
